As people prepare to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee this June, shops across the UK are starting to sell out of party wear, flags, decorations, and more. Retailers including Lakeland, Next Home and Homesense are offering regal-themed items for consumers to purchase.

I decided to head into Reading town centre to see what exactly was on offer and to try and decipher where the best place to purchase some party wear might be. With plenty of street parties on the horizon, now is a great time to try and find some fitting decor.

Reading has a wide array of different shops to visit, so I tried to go to the best homeware style shops and supermarkets in the town centre. In the end, I managed to find items in shops including Marks and Spencer, John Lewis and more.

John Lewis is currently selling a wide variety of different Jubilee-themed items. When I arrived at the shop in Reading, I saw that its 'Right Royal Organic Bunting' was being sold for £18 alongside its 'Right Royal Balloons' for £6.50.

Some more upmarket Jubilee-themed items by Queen's Green Canopy were also being sold in the shop. This included a cooler bag for £22, a blanket for £40 and a garden knee cushion for £20. Queen's Green Canopy is a tree planting initiative that was set up to mark the Jubilee and it's selling items to help raise funds for the campaign.

I also headed to the Lakeland in Reading, which is located on Broad Street. The branch was offering Union Jack bunting for £8.99, plates for £4.49 and a set of eight Union Jack cups for £4.99. Alongside the themed Jubilee items, the shop was also selling baking-related items - perfect for those wishing to make some cakes to celebrate the weekend. The shop was selling red, white, and blue fondant icing, as well as doilies and more.

Marks and Spencer has really gone all out with its Jubilee-themed items. Not only is the supermarket selling Jubilee-themed food and bunting, but it is also selling Jubilee-inspired clothes for purchase, as well as cushions and candles.

The branch in Reading didn't quite stock everything that I could see online. While in-store, I did however spot a Platinum Jubilee picnic bag alongside a £9.50 candle and some picnic blankets. I thought that this shop would probably be the best place to visit if you're planning a picnic, as they stocked plenty of supplies alongside rows of food and drink ready for the occasion.

Homesense probably stocked the largest range of homeware items. In contrast to Marks and Spencer, they sold absolutely no food items, although I did manage to find a specialist tea collection with the Queen's face on it for £6.99.

I didn't expect to find such quirky items. Among the different homeware pieces being sold was a Jubilee-themed plate with some corgis on it with the words 'It's our Mum's Jubilee' for £3.49. There was also a crown balloon being sold for £3.39 and a cake stand for £16.99. These decorative items would be great for anyone looking to purchase a commemorative piece.

Next Home had a few things on offer. Most of it was focused on street party decorations rather than picnics and homeware. For purchase was a 32-pack of flag-shaped napkins for £10, a party table set with eight cups, 16 party napkins, eight party plates, and a table runner for £18; there was also a box of British-themed dress-up props for £12.

As a homeware shop, cushions and home decor with a Jubilee twist were also being sold in store. Homeware items included a corgi-shaped cushion for £16 and a crown ornament for £8. All in all, I was quite impressed by the range of items Next had on offer, although the Reading branch seemed to be running low on some on stock.
